I understand the need to protest, and I get that when large groups of young men gather together in protest, violence is almost inevitable. But, when your only reason to be rioting is so that you can smash into local shops to steal ciggies and booze...well, you just need a damn good slap!
That is not to say that society does not have a responsibility to provide all young adults an opportunity to succeed and have hope for the future. Unemployment, despair and daytime television all play their part!

I used to love this woman's turn of phrase. Frothy, easy beach-reading. But I'm trying to plough my way through her latest - Jump! (I think it's jump). Dear God. It's like listening to an old biddy recount the goings on in her village. Actually, it IS an old biddy recounting the goings on in her village. There's a cast of thousands with backstories I'm meant to know and care about. 600 pages and three lines of dialogue. The rest is just descriptions of who's wearing what, where they sit, what they drink and who they are secretly lusting over.
I don't think her publisher even read this before it hit the presses. She just emailed them 300k words and they ran a spellcheck and sent it straight to the printers.
Ack.

James Patterson
Sell as many books as possible, even if they are exactly like someone else's popular book. I guess there are enough wimpy kids out there that money should be made off of them! Check out this creepy advertisement ... http://www.jamespatterson.com/

We're in the middle of an economic turndown, right? Cuts are about to fillet us all, right? Then why can't I find someone to fix my roof? And, why, when I do, does he give me a date 3 months in the future and then not turn up.
Does he phone to say he's busy and can he come next week? No.
Does he answer my texts? No.
Does he "get back to me tomorrow" when he's got his "Big Diary"? No.
I would like to smack this man good and hard. Right across the back of the legs.
Not for being too busy to fix my roof. I'm glad he's got more work than he can handle. But if he's not going to fix my roof, could he just tell me so I can begin to look for someone who will?
